For Writers

There are so many great resources for any writers, my favourite one's are the Chapters that I'm a member of - whether it's to laugh, scream or cry - the supportive friends you'll meet will help you with your goals.  One of the best resources and support that I have found so far is from Romance Writers of America - especially RWA online.  There are so many great writers - published and unpublished that will help you deal with everything from writing to writer's block .

Two other chapters that I absolutely love are the Toronto Romance Writers and the Kiss of Death Chapter - I had to include them.  If your just starting out as a writer join a club - get some feedback on your writing or just join for some great entertainment.

As for the romance authors out there that want to write about mystery/suspense romance - the Kiss of Death is for you.  Need help killing off your characters?   (My favourite part of writing a mystery.)  ;)  This chapter has the information you need.  KOD also has great Coffin workshops that you can join to help you with your writing.

What else could you possibly need - right?  How about some great places to help you get ideas?  If you have writer's block or just need some help developing your character or plot, these are just some of the places you can look:

Blue Feather - which is what I refer to it as - great imagination huh?  Anyways this is the place to go if you're having problems making decisions about your character.  I just love how much fun it is, especially when your frustrated with your story development.  It has a magic eight ball type decision maker, you enter in a question and gives you a tarot type answer - I absolutely love it.

Writertopia is another one of those sites I love.  I use Writertopia only for one thing - the writer meter -  I think it's just absolutely adorable.  As you write your story or book you can program these  potato type people to measure your progress.  I know it sounds dumb, but it's very motivating to see your word count go up and up - until the little guy celebrates with a beer.  I love it.

Since I write about police and the mob in a majority of my books, I usually use the Mafia Name Generator to find nicknames for my characters.  :)  Yup, there is such a thing!  http://pages.prodigy.net/mlemus/mobnamegenerator.htm

I hope you check out some of these links, they really are a lot of fun.  Enjoy!
